Shine a Light on the matter

Brandie DeGelder

I just recently sent an update to the churches (within our federation) on the success of our Shine-a-light fundraiser, and in case you missed it, we raised $13,485. Since that post, I received another two emails with donations for that campaign with another$375!

If you have ever involved yourself with a fundraiser(s), you’ll know how much work it can be but how none of that seems to matter when you see the funds pool in for your project(s). Streetlight Christian Church is no different in that way. The staff and members of the board work (tirelessly at times) to collect and gather ideas on how to keep Streetlight Christian Church operating and flourishing. Sometimes it can be hard to estimate just how much we’re going to raise for one particular fundraiser. Other fundraisers are goal-specific, and we make sure the public knows our intentions and our progress. Streetlight Christian Church has various fundraisers throughout the year: Shine-a-lightShine-On (or the Building Fundraiser), our annual skate night hosted by PV&V Insurance, the Toiletry Bag event, and our Christmas Store.

The Shine-a-light fundraiser runs at the end of the year and a few weeks into the new year. This fundraiser allows donors to select what they would like to see their donations benefit. The plethora of categories (as seen on our brochure) covers everything encompassed in the day-to-day operations of Streetlight Christian Church. The categories donors can choose from are all interconnected. You cannot have one without the other. Times have changed, and we have all had to make sacrifices. However, we’re happy to announce that we have excellent attendance in our programs!

If you didn’t get a chance to see the bulletin announcement, let me recap the last couple of lines,

‘With all the various fundraisers out there for our churches, schools and the general community, the staff and board at Streetlight ChristianChurch are incredibly grateful for your generous support. Because of you, wecan continue to offer our programs, resources, and support to the families andindividuals in the Beasley and surrounding neighbourhood! We wish you God’sblessings, and we’ll continue to keep you updated on the work and ministrybeing taken care of at Streetlight Christian Church!’
